Work in progress, Pre-Xmas Day nonsense etc.

Here's an image work-in-progress thing for the untitled "Lazarus Burne" strip.

Thumbnailed the last chapter of the Dr. Nikola vs The 1880's Soldier Legacy for the next issue of Dark Detective: Sherlock Holmes (#9). All previous 8 issues and TPB are avilable via blackboox: http://www.blackboox.net

I just spotted this! http://www.pozible.com/index.php/archive/index/11289/updates/0/0#info

My image is included in the Sebastian Hawks Gallery :D

 That's awesome :D Thank you!

You guys should really check this out, not long to go, and they need your help!

As soon as my snail-paced funds clear, I'm all over it :D

Soldier Legacy #6 questions are coming in already, no due date as yet, due to juggling these two comics plus the thesis that needs drastic work. I don't want to rush #6 and kill the look of it, plus there's quite a few challenging visuals needed. So at this stage, it might be out in time for Free Comic Book Day (I'll be at Gifts for the Geek in Melbourne), or the aim is Supanova Sydney 21-23rd June. Keep you posted if earlier. Time is going to be a huge factor come 2013- one that I'm not looking forward to. But, we can only do what we can, right?

Oh, if you're after the others, signed and with a original sketch, I'm having a 2 weeks only, limited stock sale:

Had a lovely name drop, and recent image feature on BLEEDING COOL NEWS today, a nice surprise by Andrez Bergen for his upcoming novel "Who is Killing the Great Capes of Heropa?". Thanks Andrez. Merry Christmas. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/12/23/icing-on-the-cape-who-is-killing-the-great-capes-of-heropa/

Lastly, the great guys at Geek Speak did a Christmas shout out, and nicely, I was included. Thanks again, and all the best for 2013 :D

And again, to each and every one of you, who take time out to read my ramblings here, Merry Christmas, and happy, safe holidays. I hope you continue to march with me and the Soldier in 2013.

Page preview- Soldier Legacy #5.

Less than a week left to put this issue to bed. Last preview page before then (I think... ;P).

The Black and white version was previewed a few weeks back, thought it might be nice to reveal a coloured version, just so you get an idea of how the final issue is shaping up.

Gotta run.

Kirby Riff: Soldier legacy #5/ Our Fighting Forces #151

Not far away from completion of this issue, but it's really "back to the wall" week. This issue is, I'd be fine except I have a massive seminar/squad training/tournament fighting weekend I have to attend, the issue is due mid next week, and student assessments are coming in that has to be marked...*phew. Full on stuff.

In the meantime, a Kirby Riff in the "splash" panel for the backup feature for Soldier #5; when scrambling to thumbnail this page this morning, I kept coming back to this composition which reminded me of one of Kirby's DC Comic tenures: "Our Fighting Forces ft. The Losers" run from the mid 70's. The particular issue was actually his first one for the series, with the title "Kill me with Wagner". The back up feature might get a similar sub-title for the issue :P.

Anyways, still messing with the colours, it's 4am and I've run out of steam. Will have to re-evaluate with weekend (yes, will have to drag the work with me to get it done>)

Good news is too, I believe Soldier Legacy trades and issue 4 are getting reprints by Black House Comics for Brisbane Supanova (I've been out for a while, so that's a relief) and, prints are sent. More info for those who give a damn soon ;P

Peace :)

The learning process: 'The Soldier Legacy'

Thumbnail

Roughs

Clean ups and darken lines

Flats (in progress)

Rendering (trying to find the look I want)

Final (or abandoned-still up in the air, but the other still looked too saturated)

To be published in upcoming 'Soldier Legacy #5'. Thanks all :)

Issue 5 Soldier Legacy- work in progress

I haven't leaked anything as yet, so I threw this up as I try to juggle more pencils and get back into the swing of colouring before I have to get into the bulk of the issue. Not sold on it yet, brain is still invested in the penciling stage to not want to concentrate on colour...Too much pulling my brain in opposite directions.

Flats. If time becomes an overwhelming factor, perhaps this is the way to go....we'll see how pencils go.

But, we soldier on.
